Contest is open to anyone attending school in New Jersey in the 9th through 12th grades. Entrants between 14 and 18 must have a parent or legal guardian permission to enter the competition.
Submissions must be original and unpublished.
All entries must follow the rules in this document.
HOW TO SUBMIT TO THE 2022 ICNA CSJ NJ BLACK HISTORY MONTH ESSAY CONTEST
Each contestant may submit just one entry.
There is no registration fee for submitting an entry.
Entries must be typed onto the WORD template that is to be downloaded from this website. That WORD document template may be found here.
Do not put your name on any pages of your essay. Your name, phone number, and email address, as well as the name, phone number, and email address of your parent or guardian along with the title of your entry, go on the cover page of the entry template.
All contest entries must be typed in Times New Roman 12-point font and double-spaced on the WORD template.
Entries must be a maximum of 600 words.
The title of the work and a page number should appear on every page.
Do not include illustrations or pictures in your essay.
Once the WORD template is downloaded and completed with contestant information on the cover page, and an essay entry on the following pages, it should be emailed to email@example.com.
Essay submissions will be accepted beginning on February 1st 2022. The deadline for essay submissions is midnight Feb. 14, 2022.
Any deviation from these rules could be the basis for disqualification.
Contest winners will be announced on Thursday, February 24, 2022 via a press release, ICNA NJ website and social media post. All entrants will be notified of the winners via email.
The best entry from each grade category will be awarded either a Samsung Galaxy Tab S7, or an Apple iPad.
The entire text of the overall best entry will be included in a press release announcement.
Second and third prizes will be awarded for both the 9th grade and 10th grade category and the 11th and 12th grade category. Second prize will be a $200 Amazon gift card and third prize will be a $100 Amazon gift card. Honorable mentions will receive a certificate.
